The Academic Program Academic Breakup The new session commences in the first week of August for all classes up to Matric and terminates in July while for the Intermediate level the session begins in June and terminates in May the following year. The academic year from Play Group to class 10 is split up into three terms of almost three months each. a. First Term: From 1st week of August till the end of October. b. Second Term: From 1st week of November till first week of April. c. Third Term: From mid April till mid July. Orientation Sessions Modernage organizes special orientation sessions for the new Modernites each year. This is useful for the new entrants because it: gives them a warm welcome to Modernage. provides answers to the queries they have in their minds. helps them learn about the abundance of resources and services available on campus. gives them an opportunity to meet with the faculty. helps them to review their academic goals. ensures proper placement and registration in classes. allows them to learn about life as a student at Modernage and meet other
boys and girls who will be their classmates and peers during the coming years.
Curriculum……. A brief outline Our curriculum setters have a two pronged policy. They make sure that the courses included promote firstly the integrity of mind and purity of soul and secondly the mental capabilities of students. Up to class VIII the syllabi are prepared and reviewed on yearly basis. The selected books are printed by well reputed publishers. For Matric and Inter level all the books prescribed by the Abbottabad Board and Technical Board are being used. The students are encouraged to use reference books and other resource materials for conceptual learning and development of research oriented approach. Religious Education At Modernage, Islamiat is taught as a compulsory subject for all Muslim students. The morning assembly opens with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by its translations in Urdu and English. On all occasions of religious importance, the opportunity is taken to organize such activities that will promote tolerance and spirit of mutual understanding in the students as individuals. The prayers are offered regularly in the Ali Muhammad Mosque. Full time Qaris teach Hifz and Nazra to the students Career Counselling Modernage provides assistance in career planning especially to college students. It is aimed that the students get ample chances to explore career possibilities early in their college careers. It aids the students in making educated decisions regarding the selection of courses and analyzing their individual skills and interests. Remedial Teaching Modernage has launched a Remedial Teaching Program for those students of Primary level who are handicapped by lack of skill in reading, writing and arithmetic. These students are given exclusive coaching for a certain period till they reach the level of their class. Help of parents is also sought to make these sessions effective for the participants. Plans are being made to extend this help to higher classes as well. Emotional & Psychological Counselling Various social, cultural and economic factors affect the performance of students in their academic and co-curricular participation. To aid the students to tackle these delicate matters, Modernage provides emotional and psychological counseling both individually and in groups through specially trained people. The students get a chance to improve personal habits, overcome tension and depression and improve relationships. Studying Abroad Modernage has made considerable efforts to provide its students a window to Europe and America. Every year a certain number of capable Modernites are provided an opportunity to continue their studies abroad. Modernage is affiliated with The Saint Michael’s College, USA and The Stafford House, UK. A brief introduction of these prestigious institutions is as follows: The Saint Michael’s College being located at Winooski Park, Vermont, USA was founded in 1904. Over the years it has developed into a residential liberal arts and science college drawing undergraduate students from all over the world. Further it also offers professional programs in accounting, business, education and journalism. Modernage is affiliated with The Saint Michael’s College since the year 2000. The Stafford House being located in Canterbury England was founded in 1952. It has two branches namely The Stafford House Tutorial College and The Stafford House School of English. It offers access to different courses to the students of various nationalities. Since 1993, Modernage is affiliated with this prestigious educational institutional.
